Just as some people have physical boundaries, not all cats are cuddle bugs. But just because touch may not be their thing doesn’t mean there can’t be a meaningful and loving relationship. For this 5-year-old gray and white girl, personal space is as comfortable as it gets.
Shakira likes a good head scratch now and again, but she prefers pets on her terms. She will come to you when she wants attention, and will let you know when she’s done receiving it. Shakira has a threshold for physical contact, and her new family will need to respect that. While her personality won’t appeal to all potential adopters, with a little time and patience, it is easily possible for a strong bond to form between Shakira and her person.
If you’ve already fallen for those big round eyes (seriously, they’re round. Practically perfect circles), we’ve got some first-hand experience that will help you win her over. While pets aren’t her thing, Shakira is extremely playful and she absolutely loves wand toys with feathers. You’ll get to watch her wide eyes go wider with just a wave of the wand. And just like her namesake, Shakira’s hips tell you everything: when she is ready to pounce on her prey, she does a wiggle that moves her whole body.
Plus, you’ll know when she’s happy about your selection of treats. When we pull out the tub of Temptations, she puts her paws up on the cabinets, or will take an all-out-leap onto the counter to make sure she’s right there once you uncap the goods. Keep the cupboards well-stocked and she’s sure to be appeased.
