Imagine living behind a couch for months, too wary to come out because of the creatures who came too close for comfort. That was the reality for Sweetie and Izzy, two eight-year-old cats who were intimidated by the dogs they shared a home with. Even with time, it was clear Izzy and Sweetie would never acclimate to the environment. So, it was kinder to surrender these two in the hopes they could have a fresh start, somewhere they would be comfortable enough to be themselves.
Four months later, and this pair is still waiting for their new beginning. But it has given the staff a chance to get to know them. Just as her name suggests, Sweetie is a delight to be around! This black and white lady is very affectionate, and just wants to be somebody’s lap cat. The more outgoing of the two, Sweetie is always the first to leave their kennel for playtime.
Meanwhile, Izzy is content to sit back and let her friend do all the exploring. Though quiet and shy, this gray girl enjoys pets when you initiate affection. Izzy and Sweetie are a bonded pair, and should go home together. We can tell Izzy gains a lot of comfort and confidence in Sweetie! Based on their experience in the previous home, they should go to a home without dogs.
