Bubbly, beautiful, and loyal to her humans, Champagne can be a little shy when meeting new people, but quickly shows she is an extremely loveable girl who wants nothing more than to spend time with her family.
Champagne was part of an animal control seizure in which four adult dogs and a puppy were taken out of a home because the owner could no longer care for them. Thankfully, all of the animals were in great health overall. But it was clear that they were scared, stressed, and did not want to be handled by a bunch of strangers—a completely fair response, really!
So, we took our time getting to know Champagne and her friends. We’d sit by their kennel, allowing them to get used to us, and offered many, many treats. Champagne was the first of the bunch to come around. We’ve found her to be a sweet, lovable lap dog, who is as delightful as she is gorgeous. The first time we took her out to the Big Yard, we realized just how shiny her tan fur is. It was so wonderful to see her light eyes go from fearful to elated as she ran across the grass.
Estimated to be around 2-years-old, Champagne has a moderate energy level. Like a cork from a bottle, she gets a quick burst of the zoomies from time to time, but she is very easily settled. She has interacted with dogs here at our shelter, and by far her favorite is one of our more laid-back dogs, Clarabelle. They love to play with each other, and we think Champagne would love to go home with a friend who matches her energy level.
