Your 2017 Mutt Strut Parade Grand Marshall is… HSKC adoptable shelter dog Layla!
For the very first time in the 16-year history of the Mutt Strut parade, a very special shelter dog was named Grand Marshall. 5 yr old “Layla” led the pack as she kicked off the Mutt Strut festivities this weekend. She was accompanied by HSKC Animal Care Supervisor Julie Neukam.
This was a role that this patient pup had earned! Layla has recently come up on her 1 year anniversary at The Humane Society of Kent County – May 28, to be exact. For more than 365 days now, our ever-enthusiastic Layla has gone through each day looking forward to walks with staff members, playtime with Washington College friends, and a fair amount of meet and greets with potential adopters.
Layla hasn’t met a person yet that she doesn’t love! But for one reason or another, Layla has yet to be chosen. Could you be the forever home that she’s been looking for? Layla doesn’t mind being crated for work hours, is gentle with cats, and has even befriended some male dogs! (And she looks STUNNING in a tutu, tiara, and fairy wings.) With a little Mutt Strut luck, maybe – just maybe – Layla will find the family she has always longed for.
