Miss Mia is a 4 year old Airedale/Lab mix. She is currently on the mend at The Humane Society of Kent County, after undergoing surgery to repair an old ACL injury. The costly procedure was made possible by a generous discount from a local veterinarian and a Kent County High School student/HSKC intern who raised money to cover the cost.
Mia came through the procedure like a champ! She has been strong and stoic during her first week post-op. Although she certainly must be sore and tender at times, Mia is never snarky towards her caretakers at the shelter. She is always happy to see the staff and ready for their short leash walks or cuddle time.
Since Mia will be rehabbing for several weeks, her situation is unique. HSKC is looking for someone who is interested in adopting Mia to foster her along until she is released from the vet.
Mia lived with little dogs in her previous home. In fact, she has been super social with every little dog she has encountered at the shelter. She has participated in several doggy play groups and seems to do well with cats. Mia prefers the company of adults. She has a low to moderate energy level and a look all of her own. She can be protective of her territory and her people. She is housebroken and likes to keep her space tidy.
If you think that you could help Mia get back on her feet and if you think this pup could be a forever fit in your family, please call HSKC today!
