The Kent County Humane Society has a new TV show called "Think Pawsitive". It is 30 minutes long, is running on CRTV Channel 6 (a local cable channel run out of Chesapeake College) and show times are 10:00-10:30 AM and 6:30-7:00 PM every Tuesday and Thursday. It is filmed on location (at the shelter) and features dogs and cats that we have available for adoption.

We would like to thank Josie Elburn, Susan Newnan and Anne North of the Chemotherapy Department of the Chester River Health Systems for their loyalty in donating aluminum cans each week to help pay for food for the animals. We also would like to acknowledge with gratitude Phil Cicconi's contribution of cans from the Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge. Carolyn Jones, owner of Maggie's Tavern in Rock Hall is making her aluminum cans available and we thank her. The sale of aluminum cans is an important source of funds to support the animals in the shelter. The dogs and cats also thank you.

What Does It Do?

Shelters stray and unwanted animals at the Society's facility. (No fees are charged for people bringing pets to the shelter)

How Can It Help You Solve Pet Problems and Emergencies?

The Humane Society can help you with:

A dog or cat that is injured, neglected, abandoned, or abused

Loose, stray or badly behaved dogs

Obtaining a humane trap to catch a stray or abandoned dog

Questions or information about pets or the Kent County Dog Ordinance

If you have a complaint or problem you wish to report to the animal control officer, please click here to obtain a complaint or problem form.

The Society responds 24 hours a day to emergencies. An emergency is an occurrence that seriously threatens the safety of a person or domestic animal.

For after hours emergencies, call Kent County Emergency Alarm at 410-778-1241. (Note: Animal Control Officers cannot respond to after hours calls that are not emergencies.)

An Emergency Drop Off Room is located behind and to the left of the shelter. The area is well lighted and identified by a sign. Staff regularly check the Drop Off Room.

Report all animal bites to the Humane Society of Kent County, MD, and the Kent County Health Department.
