3-yr-old Dewey generated some excitement at The Humane Society of Kent County’s annual Mutt Strut festivities! First of all, this handsome pup is an eyecatcher. His size alone demands your attention. He has strong, long legs and a regal posture. Even though he weighs in at 70 pounds, it didn’t take long to assess that Dewey is really a gentle giant. There are times when he’s caught cowering from his own shadow!
He has amazing leash manners and is so smart. He even placed 2nd in the “musical sit” contest at the Mutt Strut! He was focused on his handler and seemed to realize he was playing a game. He did not disappoint! He would probably be best suited to having a female pup companion, but would certainly not mind being the one and only four-legged kid in the family.
Dewey was an owner surrender due to extenuating circumstances. He was well-adjusted in a home setting and it is the goal of the staff at HSKC to get him right back out the door! 13 days is too long to live in a shelter…that’s 312 hours that he has been standing in a kennel, waiting to be rescued! We’re open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays through Saturdays 11am to 4pm, and adoption applications can be filled out online. Please come visit Dewey today!
