Meet 5-year-old Carl! Sadly, Carl is not a new face to the HSKC. He was adopted out two years ago to a loving family with kids that he adored. Sometimes life circumstances change for people and Carl was recently returned to us. He was well adjusted in a home setting and it is the goal of the staff at The Humane Society of Kent County to get him right back out that door and into a new forever home!
He has strikingly good looks, with his black-toned brindle fur and deep mocha eyes. The only thing bigger than Carl’s “blockhead” is his enormous heart. Although he loves everyone he meets, Carl adores children. He would make the perfect family dog. When around kids, he is so gentle and nurturing.
Carl participates in playgroups with other dogs and gets along with all the dogs he meets. Let’s just say that he is “allergic” to cats. Carl likes things clean and tidy. He never breaks the rules when it comes to being housebroken. Take him in the big play yard and he will romp and run and make you laugh. Those long legs love to sprint after a ball and retrieve it. Not to brag, but Carl is known as a master tennis ball fetcher. He will fetch any tennis ball in sight and can fit three in his mouth at a time…how impressive!!
Carl is super intelligent too. If you offer him a treat, he will show you how smart he is because he would do just about anything for a treat. He is so easy-going and fun to be around. He is pretty good at entertaining himself when he has to be left alone. Carl is a happy dog and always ready to give hugs and kisses! This gentle giant definitely has a cuddle bug side that he just cannot hide. Make sure there’s room on the sofa for this 53 pound king, because he is going to want to be right beside you watching the news or napping at your feet while you read a book.
